  4. PEP is a super-fast drawing and layout program for PC compatible
  5. computers running under DOS.  You can use it to create diagrams,
  6. illustrations, drawings of any kind, flow charts, org charts, logos,
  7. labels, presentations, certificates, slide shows, banners, bookmarks,
  8. business cards, forms, fonts, floor plans, and much more.

  11. GETTING STARTED
  12.  
  13. It takes just three simple steps to get PEP up and running:
  14.  
  15.      Step 1:  Make a directory for PEP on your hard disk and copy all of
  16. the PEP files into that directory.  (You can also install PEP on a floppy
  17. disk provided that it has at least a 720 kilobyte capacity.)
  18.  
  19.      Step 2:  Run PEP's INSTALL utility and answer the questions that it
  20. asks.  This will set up PEP to run properly with your hardware
  21. configuration.

  23.      Step 3:  Run PEP.

  26. ON-LINE HELP

  28. When you are using PEP, you can access the documentation at any time
  29. through the context-sensitive help facility.  For example, to obtain
  30. information about any menu command, just highlight that command with the
  31. cursor and press the F1 key.  PEP will take you directly to the relevant
  32. section of the manual.  When there are cross references in the manual, you
  33. can click with the mouse or use the GOTO command to view the referenced
  34. section.  For complete information on using the help facility, press F1 to
  35. activate Help and then press F1 a second time.

  38. DOCUMENTATION
  39.  
  40. The complete documentation for PEP is contained in the files having the
  41. extension TXT.  CONTENTS.TXT is the table of contents; CHAPT1.TXT contains
  42. chapter one of the manual, and so forth.  These are ASCII files and you
  43. can use the DOS COPY command to make a printed version; for example, to
  44. print chapter one type:

  46.          COPY CHAPT1.TXT PRN
  47.  
  48. It is not necessary to print all of the manual, as you can view it while
  49. you are using PEP (see above), but we recommend reading through chapter 1,
  50. which is especially useful when you are using PEP for the first time; it
  51. contains a thorough overview of PEP, and how to use it.
  52.  
  53. The remainder of the manual is organized as follows.  Chapters 2 to 13
  54. describe the menu commands.  Chapter 14 covers the function key and
  55. ALT-key commands.  (See also the keyboard guide, PEPKEY.PDL, which you can
  56. view or print using PEP).  Chapter 15 explains on-line help.  Once you
  57. have some experience using PEP, you should consult Chapter 16:  Hints,
  58. Tricks & Warnings.  If you have any questions about the INSTALL utility,
  59. see the final chapter, CHAPT17.TXT.

  62. YOUR LICENSE TO USE THIS VERSION OF PEP
  63.  
  64. This is an unregistered shareware copy of PEP.  You may use it at no
  65. charge for an evaluation period of up to 90 days.  If you want to continue
  66. using PEP after that, you must pay a license fee and obtain a registered
  67. copy as described in the next section below.

  69. You may make and distribute copies of this unregistered shareware version
  70. of PEP, provided that such copies of PEP are complete and unmodified.
  71. Please keep your original copy of PEP, and only distribute duplicates made
  72. from that original.  You should NOT distribute a copy made after you have
  73. run the INSTALL utility to set up for your particular hardware
  74. configuration.  In no case, may you distribute copies of the registered
  75. version of PEP or of the printed manual.

  92. You have a choice of two registration options:  basic registration ($45)
  93. and extended registration ($75).

  95. If you send $45 (basic registration), you will receive:

  97.      1.  A registered copy of the latest version of PEP.
  98.      2.  Six months of telephone technical support.
  99.      3.  140 kilobytes of bonus graphics including:
  100.            additional scalable fonts,
  101.            additional decorative border styles and
  102.            additional sample art.
  103.      4.  Prompt notice of future releases and new products.
  104.      5.  Reduced prices on PEP upgrades.

  106. If you send $75 (extended registration), you will receive all of the
  107. above plus:

  109.      6.  A printed copy of the manual and keyboard guide.
  110.      7.  One year of telephone technical support.
  111.      8.  A free upgrade to the next following release of PEP.

  114. to print this form, fill it out completely, and mail it, together with
  115. your payment, to TRIONUM at the address given below.
